Our community standards are continually evolving to maintain an environment that is diverse, inclusive, and welcoming to any individuals who would benefit from this platform. Member feedback is valued and always welcome.

When posting on the Talko website, engaging on a video call, or within any Talko chat platforms (including Talko’s native chat/messaging, Discord, and/or GroupMe), you are like our guest at our dinner party. You’ve been invited into our space, and we ask that you behave with respect and courtesy to help us create a positive discussion.

Community Guidelines and Standards

• Please use your real name. We reserve the right to delete posts made under aliases.
• Comments and content posted within the Talko platform is considered part of the community conversation. We reserve the right to remove comments and content that may negatively affect the community or the well-being of its members.
• We reserve the right to delete any comments including –
  • personal attacks,
  • all forms of discrimination,
  • posts identifying or sharing the personal information of another person (including children),
  • comments that are commercial or repeatedly shared external links,
  • comments that are defamatory, breach the copyright, or put us in legal jeopardy,
  • deliberate attempts to misinform, distort facts, provoke or misrepresent the opinions of others, and
  • other content at editorial discretion.
• We reserve the right to lock accounts, in particular where an individual repeatedly breaches standards
• Disputes We won’t review routine moderation decisions, but if you do need to discuss anything, contact our Community Manager: mod@talko.io.
• Be nice and respect other people’s opinions.
• Understand others’ opinions may be different to your own.

DO NOT:

• Post private/sensitive information or media
• Advertise, post repetitive messages or links. This includes third-party adverts, polls, and petitions, junk mail, spam, chain letters, or any other form of unauthorized solicitation.

A DRAMA AND JUDGMENT-FREE GROUP

We are an authentic, diverse group. We leave drama, issues, and insecurities behind and believe in treating each other with respect. We disagree respectfully but do not judge. We respect others’ opinions, lifestyles, and choices, even if they are different than our own. 

We can ask questions to better understand differing opinions but do not verbally attack others on any platform. 

If you have reason to believe that another participant’s actions may be derogatory or hurtful to others (either intentionally or unintentionally), please contact a moderator for assistance. Serious concerns must be handled seriously for appropriate action.

“Drama Bombing”

Comments posted in public forums that are deemed as incendiary, accusatory, or reactive are considered drama-bombing and will be removed. These comments do not respectfully address a concern (even a valid one) and can affect our safe and accepting environment. This type of comment diminishes the content of the message and does not resolve concerns.  Participants engaging in such comments will be contacted and may be removed from the group.

IMAGES

• No nudity
• No pictures which could cause offense/upset (i.e. depictions of violence, injury or other scenes likely to cause distress)
• Must not contain Talko Social Club logo, name, or variants
• Must not contain personal information (i.e. phone number, postcode or account number)

CONFLICT

• We ask members attempt to resolve conflict between each other directly and through private communication.
• If private resolution is unsuccessful or you do not feel comfortable addressing a member directly, please reach out to a moderator for assistance.

IN SUMMARY

This is not an exhaustive list. We ask everyone to use their common sense when posting. If content is deemed inappropriate then we reserve the right to remove it. We are also able to restrict a member’s access to the community either by a temporary or permanent ban.
